We are looking to recruit a Software Engineer (UI) for the Aer Lingus Technology team as part of IAG Tech. UI Software Engineers have a pivotal role to play in the technology team in Aer Lingus. We are seeking a talented and motivated individual, who will be a proactive and collaborative member of a Product team and will nurture the Agile principles and values within that team. This candidate will be focused on delivering innovative, high quality, all-encompassing solutions for the front-end interface of the Aer Lingus website.

Our ideal candidate has extensive understanding of JavaScript and the Angular framework and is proficient in crafting interfaces for a positive and cohesive web user experience on mobile and desktop devices.

Your role:

The key objective for this role is the implementation and delivery of high-quality UI solutions for the Aer Lingus Website within our Product teams. As part of this role, the candidate will manage and have responsibility for their tasks as part of a cross-functional Agile team.

To be successful in this you will be required to;

Gain a deep technical understanding of the existing Angular Framework, principles, policies and standards
Develop well-structured production level JavaScript/HTML/CSS, utilising a variety of frameworks for front-end web development
Act as technical advisor to business owners, project management, and backend development teams regarding front-end development standards and processes
Collaborate with technical teams to instil CI & Development best practices
Promote continuous learning so that the skill level of the department continues to improve and deliver more effectively
Develop POC’s and perform code reviews with a focus on design principles, simple testable code and quality at the fore.
Work closely with product teams to ensure delivery of these solutions to enhance our business capabilities
Designing and developing key components for enhancement of aerlingus.com and mobile
Support and mentor technical teams to encourage growth & foster an innovative and inquisitive development culture.
Continuously ensuring a shift left approach to quality is adhered to and collaborating with all product team members to enable this

To be considered for the role of Software Engineer (UI), candidates must meet the following:

Your qualifications & key criteria:

Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent formal training.
2-4 Years of Professional experience in JavaScript; experience with AngularJS/Angular 2+ and other JavaScript libraries
Experience with NodeJS and build tools such as Grunt/Webpack etc.
Experience with JavaScript testing tools such as Jasmine, Chai etc.
Continuous build/integration mindset and experience reducing lead time to market for feature development (Jenkins, Gradle, BitBucket)
Keen interest in learning and sharing knowledge among your peers to ensure high quality code deliverables & practices
Demonstrable design knowledge, including API design principles, SOA, event driven systems and similar design patterns and techniques
Experience working with RESTful Web Services
Professional experience in coding HTML and CSS
Ability to work closely with designers, product owners and developers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable to present technical information to a non-technical audience
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Impeccable written & oral communication skills
Eligible to live and work in the EU
Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in
Experience working with Agile frameworks and processes

Desirable criteria:

AWS Certification and/or experience of solutioning for Cloud
Knowledge of high volume e-Commerce/retail and Services architectures.
Knowledge of Accessibility Standards for Websites
Experience working bug tracking and workflow applications/tools
Experience in Build Automation and Testing tools, such as Jenkins, Gradle, SonarQube etc.

*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries
